The kitchen is definitely the warm focus in the main living area. All the cupboards are custom made from knotty alder, stained in a warm caramel color. They have a hint of gray-very modern and classy color that you won't get tired of. There is decorative space above the cabinets, and we installed new cabinet and drawer handles that match throughout the kitchen and both bathrooms less than a year ago. All countertops in the kitchen (as well as throughout the house) are granite, and the kitchen and dining area has tiled floor, easy to clean.

This kitchen layout is VERY cooking friendly. All the appliances are black and match beautifully with the granite. The microwave is directly above the stove. Both the range and oven are gas. The range has 4 separate grates that are dishwasher safe, making cleaning the stove an easy task. There is a large lower cupboard perfect for pots and pans right next to the stove. The sink and dishwasher are next to each other, and it makes it fast to load dishes. The larger two upper cupboards for plates, bowls, and glasses are right above the dishwasher, making it easy to unload clean dishes and put them away. The window above the kitchen sink looks into the backyard and lets in plenty of natural light. There is a lot of countertop space for food preparation. The center island has a nice large countertop workspace perfect for mixing up dinner or making rolls, cutting out cookies, etc. It also has the extended countertop making it nice to eat sitting on the bar stools.
